Nasty Women Group Show

nastyJanuary 28, 2017

I’m showing 3 mosaics in a show at Portland’s Eutectic Gallery during the month of February. This is a multi-media group exhibition that serves to demonstrate solidarity among artists who identify with being a Nasty Woman in the face of threats to roll back women’s rights, individual rights, and abortion rights. Nasty Women is a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood Oregon. I will be donating 50% of my portion of sales to match Eutectic’s 50%.

Rauschenberg Residency Recap

February 9, 2016

I spent November & December 2015 at the Rauschenberg Residency in Captiva, Florida. This was the most productive and inspiring experience I’ve ever had as an artist. I made new work of my own and collaborated with the other 7 artists on a wide variety of projects including costume making, printmaking, poetry, performance and (of course) collage. To see more documentation from the residency, here’s a 5 minute video that compiles a few of our projects.

Summer Library Programs for teens!

IMG_2884March 31, 2015

I am teaching so many fun crafting workshops for teens this summer: wet felted sushi, needle felted superheroes, hand sewn stuffed animals and stenciled tote bags. These workshops, occurring in June and July, are all free and open to the public. Most are for grades 6 – 12, and in the Portland area, but I’m also teaching in Stevenson, Vancouver and Eugene.

See a complete list on the libraries page of my website, and notify the teens in your life of this great service offered to us by the library!

Japanese Surprise Box

DSCN7804March 24, 2014

This month marks exactly two years since I embarked on my first trip to Japan. What I saw and experienced there continues to reverberate in my daily life and has made a profound impact on my work. I’m excited to report that in just a month and a half, we’ll be returning to Japan for a second look!

Do you want us to send you some of the great things we find during our trip? We have put together a mail art project called Japanese Surprise Box offering to do just that. Click here to watch a video that explains this project.
